Chinese horoscope, Chinese zodiac, a 12-year cycle named after animals, is often used to denote the year of a person’s birth. It becomes a special way of numbering the years by associating the 12-year cycle with 12 symbolic animals. The 12 animals are rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig. They correspond respectively to 12 Earthly Branches: zi, chou, yin, mao, chen, si, wu, wei, shen, you, xu, and hai.
